This is the prettiest Christmas tree building set that I have seen available this year. Some of the decorations are metallic gold. I love the candles! The finished tree is 9.6" tall. There are decorations all over it, and an LED light string.
The 1,102 well-made pieces are mini size, that is, 3/4 of standard size. The build is divided into three phases. The pieces are in numbered bags that are used in order, as indicated in the manual. The manual has good illustrations and simple steps. I recommend a good light to help see the dark green pieces and the smallest pieces. I like larger pages, but I use a plastic magnifying sheet if I need it. The tree is built in layers on a central spindle, and it's fun to see it taking shape as you go.
Because of the piece size and count, and the inherent complexity of the build, this set is probably best for older kids with building experience, teens and adults.
I am very pleased with this product, and I recommend it.
Wow!! This Christmas tree is so much fun to assemble!
The pieces come in a number of bags that are numbered. 3 are numbered as 1, 3 as 2, and 3 as 3. There's also a separate bag for the lighting assembly (battery run) and a separate bag for a sticker and some tiny gold pieces that need to be broken apart from a grid.
You assemble in sections - first up are the three #1 bags, and so on. The pieces are VERY small. There's a guide to assembling the tree and while it does a decent job, you really have to pay attention to the details and sometimes make an educated guess. We had to redo our work a few times - it's challenging!
One thing I haven't figured out is how to DIS-assemble it for next year in a way that makes the building experience repeatable. I think we're doomed to dump and sort next year, unless we're able to disassemble in roughly the order we assembled. The 3 sections are decently sized, so we should be able to come close.
This is a fantastic, fun building set that is quite challenging. Recommended for 13+ and ages 13 - 15 might benefit from an adult. We were 2 adults who assembled it. Delightful.
